39 Daisies was created by the Walton Family to make a difference outside the clinical setting — promoting education, wellness, and unity within the healthcare community.
Born August 6, 1939 in Bessmer, Alabama the second of eight children of Rev. Duncan and Mrs. Arlena Willams. After graduation high school in 1957, Daisy married James Paul Walton. By 1965, the couple had nine children.
In 1966, Daisy and her family moved to San Diego, California. In 1974, Daisy became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant where she started her career at Doctor’s hospital in Point Loma, California. After a few years, she took her passion for caring for the elderly to Community Convalescent Hospital in La Mesa for 18 years.
Daisy was a giving and outgoing woman. There were times when and if someone needed something to eat or a place to sleep, did not hesitate to make sure their needs were met right along with her eight children.
Daisy had a love for having fun and enjoying life. She was a member of the “Keep On Trucking” bowling team, she shot pool, played pity-pat, spades, and her favorite, bid whist. She would have the worst hand in history and still call a “7-no trump” and somehow manage to make it.
On Christmas Day in 1993, she suffered an aneurysm. Through out the following years, Daisy has experienced many health complications. Every instance, we as a family were told “this is it”. Daisy would fight and argue with any doctor to remind them, they are not God. The medical teams in charge of her care were left perplex how she would always recover.
March 9, 2020, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and her Pastor, Daisy received her call from God and she lovingly answered as she received her wings to glory.
